WE`LL MEET YOU IN SPAIN !!!!

I want to tell you a story of two girls that knew when they were three years old. It was very funny the way they met each other because both remembered exactly that one of the girls began to bite the other every time they were together. At least and after some attacks they became best friends. There were beautiful years they shared a lot of time together a lot of games and much tears and laugh. They lived in the same building one under the other, so they changed “houses” after dinner or before going to sleep, they ran up stairs or down stairs at any time. Their brothers were friends too they are younger than the girls and they were at the same school in the same course, Can you imagine !!!! Four little Indians running in both houses and fighting and laughing !!!!!
They grow up together but when they arrived at the age of ten one of the girls had to moved to other flat, it wasn´t far away from the other house but she also changed the school. It was a sad moment for the two friends although they promised to remain close.
They kept on touch during many years and when one of them had to begin the secondary school at the age of thirteen she went at the same college that the other had been going.
But something unexpected happened, the school was very big there were seven courses at the first year so they were in differents courses, more over, one of the friend found out that her best friend had a lot of “new” friends met across three years shared in this place and the worst thing was the “new” friends made her feel very strange.
As you can imagine they began to split up and they were completely stranger when they finished the college, only the memories of those years and the great love that they felt were kept in their hart.
It was 1994, after many years they met in an aircraft, one was working, the other was in her honey moon, they laugh again, they tried to summarize their lives but, when the flight landed off they said good bye without exchanging telephone numbers or addresses (the e-mail doesn´t exist) ….I will never understand why they acted in this way…
It was January of 2009 I opened an account in facebook….
I was in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria last weekend I was visiting Mariela and her family…yes my friend of she kindergarden, she married a spanish man four years ago and she set up in this island.
It was great, we couldn´t stop talking, we remembered so many beautiful things share together that a weekend wasn,t enough. This time we keep in touch and I hope that this friendship is for ever …
OH!!! I forget to tell you that I have never bitten Mariela again !!!!!!!!

Hello, I was reading the pages of the book that Felicity gave us and I found it very interesting. Despite being in the same continent where I come from I know very little about Caribean islands. It is amazing to realize how a language could change. Since We were studing the influence of the differents cultures on the English language and the changes that this had produced I coudn´t stop comparing with the Spanish language. The Spanish is spoken in much more countries of America and all of them have their characteristics, The influences of the native tongue show thier evidences in the accents you can find all over South and Central America continent. But I think that the changes are less evident that in the English language, perhaps it is because in Latin America there weren´t the big numbers of african slaves than in others colonies and the indian slaves were "taught" in the spanish language. I don´t know It is a thuoght perhaps you can think with me.By the way, reading the pages of the book I noticed that Damien Marley wasn´t wrong when he used "Them" insted of they (!!!!!) The book gives this example "Me go there" that would mean "I went there" (!!!!) But I found a similar construction reading a book, an English book, that It is very well known because of the film: "Shirley Valantine" The book use a colloquial language and It use "me" instead of "my" Does anybody know the reason?I also laernt, reading the pages of the book, where the name of an excelent music group came from. Yes, Maroon 5, the book said that “maroon” is the name of the escaped slaves and derives from the latin word "cimarrón". Graet !!!!!

About Birds

The last class when themes were choseen I thought that they were very bored. But as soon as I began to think what to write I realized that I lived many funny and nice stories whith birds. That is because I have four cats and a garden with trees, so it is a dangerous combination. After every storm we have one or two chicks that we have to protect against ours cats. We have an old cage where we put them until they can flight, sometimes the story has a happy ending, sometimes not. Once I remember that the chick was very small, so I thought that it couldn´t survive because of the food but in the morning I listened a sound very near my window and I couldn´t belive !!!!It was the bird´s mother and she was feeding the chick throught the cage !!!! Of course this bird cuold flight after two weeks.
Finally I want to tell you about an speciall bird of my country. It calls "Hornero". It also lives in other countries of America, like Brasil, Bolivia and Peru but since 1928 it is our national bird. It is small, its colours are the colours of the ground, brown, grey, a palid red, It is very friendly, as many birds it doesn´t like living in the cities but it likes living near humans in the rural areas even in the suburbs.
I said that is speciall and it isn´t because of its appareance but for its habits. Actually this bird doesn´t make an ordinary nest, its nests are like a clay oven. Both parents make this nest during the rainy season and it can weight five kilos. The parents also take care of the eggs together when one of them go out to look for food the other stay in the nest. The couple sing together too, and the most beatifull and romantic curiosiy and ending they remain together all their lives.

Something else about English Sense of Humour

Hello, I was reading the article of Tim Dowling, it´s very funny, it is a good example of the English humour, I was thinking about the humour I found this article in the web which I comment above, but if you want to read you can find it at :
http://www.zyworld.com/albionmagazineonline/features2.htm
The article is one in the series of many articles that discuss about various aspects of the English character. It said that the English sense of humour, as we could learn, is something that everybody agree with and is recognized all over the world. The English humour is characterized rather than by the word play than by the formal jokes they do. But this word play can be taken to ridiculous extremes where language itself is deconstructed into meaningless noises that are still somehow funny, so that the properties of words themselves are used for comic effect. (!!!!!!!) Then the article tells about the others aspects present in English humour, like nonsense, the surreal ( the strange or bizarre), the whimsical, the irony and the black humour, and it gives many examples of series and films.
I think that the better part is when the author asked himself about the social functions of humour ?
The idea is to show the funny side of everything you can talk about and of course the social interaction that an exchanged joke can produce. In that order it said that a similar sense of humour is one of the most important thing that an Englishman can have in common with someone else and as they have intolerance for hostility in relationships, humour can help to talk about serious things in a relaxed way. “Laughing at a shared problem gives a sense of companionship in difficulty that is very reassuring , this helps to explain the industrial quantities of humorous material produced during World War II”
In fact, the article said, many English people are very sensitive and vulnerable against criticism, so if you joke with yourself problems, if you take them with humour the opinion of the others seem to be less rude. Finally, explaining the function of humour the author said “Many of us suspect that there is no overarching meaning to life, and, instead of being frightened by this, we often turn it to our advantage by finding it funny (in direct contrast to continental Europeans, who seem to find it angst-producing.) This may help to explain why existentialism as a school of thought has never had quite the same cultural impact in England that it has had in France”
In the end the article tells about the historical origin of this sense of humour and gives this two fundamental reasons: a) there has been no civil war in England for centuries,
b) England’s incremental progress towards a liberal democracy that makes England people knows that their rights are secure, which reduces worry and allows them to see the humour in life.

Hello everybody !!! This is my first "entry" and as many of you the fist time I write using this tool. It isn`t difficult but you have to get use with it !!!!!!
I like english a lot, I realy don´t know why, I agree with Miquel about the hability of english language to say a lot with not much words or perhaps I like it because is a way to communicate all over the world. I had never been in an english speaking country but the times I travell abroad I realized that the english is the universal language.... even in France !!!!!! I began to study english when Iwas a child....many time ago, and I continued in differents period of my life. It is one of this. In Argentina we used to study english a lot, childreen study it at school as a second language. Of course, I`m talking about the middle and high class, that It isn`t the most of the population.
Finally I think that study other language it is one of the best way to know its culture and I agree with the slogan of the school "You live a new life for every new language you speak. If you know only one language, you live only once."

See you later !!!!
